Sedalia Pet Friendly Hotels
Our pets become such a part of our family that sometimes we cannot imagine traveling without them. However, before you hit the road, or the skies, there are a few things to consider.
Is it appropriate for them to travel? If your pet is elderly or has particular health concerns it may be better to leave them in the care of a qualified pet care professional. Additionally, if your pet is easily stressed out by change, taking them along for your vacation of getaway could do more harm than good. While it’s very hard to think about leaving your pet while you travel, if their health and wellbeing will be impacted by it, it’s best to leave them in the care of a professional.
What are the accomodations? Are they actually pet friendly and will they meet the needs of your pet? Sometimes traveling isn’t always on our terms and we have to make trips for emergencies. It’s a good idea to call ahead and see what kind of options are available for your pet. We once stayed at a Bed and Breakfast that had a side yard off of their “dog room” that our dog Kobe loved.
What is your schedule while traveling? Traveling with your pet means you want them to be with you most of the time. So plan out your schedule and see if you’ll be doing activities and events that are also pet friendly. If you find that you will need to keep them in the hotel room for long stretches of time, consider finding a local dog walker to take them out while you’re not able to.
Do you have the appropriate crates and safety precautions? Safety should always be top of mind with our pets, even more so while traveling. Before you leave, make sure their tags and vaccinations are up to date. If they’re microchipped, ensure that information is still correct. Check that the crate you’re using is crash tested and is securely installed in your car. It's also a good time to do a thorough once over of your lead and harness and see if it’s time to replace them. If they’re torn, faded, cracked, or starting to fray, pick up a new set. The last thing you want is to be in a new place and have a harness or lead break.
