Dog-Friendly Events in Springfield, April 2023

Now that 2023 Spring is officially in full swing, many people find themselves searching for fun activities to enjoy with their dogs. The warmer weather can be a great time for walks, car rides, and splashing around in creeks. In addition to those activities, Springfield hosts a large variety of dog-friendly events every spring that you and your pet are sure to enjoy!

Easter Bunny Photos at Fetch Supplies and Gifts

On Sunday, April 2, Fetch Supplies and Gifts will have an in-store Easter Bunny, with a photographer onsite to capture photos of your pet enjoying their Easter fun! All photos taken will be emailed directly to you, so you’ll have a digital copy to share online. Photos cost $10 each, with all proceeds benefiting SAAF Spay and Neuter Clinic, one of Springfield’s only low-cost clinics. The Easter Bunny will be there from 4-7pm and doesn’t require a reservation, so be sure to stop by for holiday fun!

Easter Egg Hunt at Barkyard

Barkyard, one of Springfield’s two dog parks, is hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8th. There will be four hunts, with small dogs at 1 and 1:30, and large dogs at 2 and 2:30. The only entrance fee is a $10 donation to HavaHeart Rescue, which can be paid in person when you arrive. This event requires all dogs to be leashed to ensure that every dog gets an opportunity to find eggs. The eggs are filled with special prizes like treats, toys, and special giveaways, such as free doggy daycare and annual memberships to Barkyard. In addition to the egg hunt, there will be local pet vendors supplying free goodies and information about their business. For legal-age humans, Mother’s Brewing Company will be onsite serving drinks. This event also features an Easter Bunny for your pet to take photos with, which cost another $10 donation to HavaHeart Rescue. Whether your dog is big or small, or whether or not they enjoy hunting for prizes, there will be plenty of activities to keep them engaged.

Tails & Ales at 4 by 4 Brewing

Tails & Ales is an event created by K9s for Camo, a nonprofit that aims to provide veterans with service dogs. It provides a great opportunity to meet with other dog owners, enjoy a night out, and support a worthwhile cause. It will be hosted on Tuesday, April 11 at 4 by 4 Brewing in Galloway. The evening runs from 5:30-8pm, and includes dinner catered by Ceasar’s Old Mexico, one alcoholic beverage per person, a dog treat buffet, and a small gift for each dog in attendance. Tickets cost $80, which can be paid in person with cash, check, card, or Chewy gift cards. K9s for Camo are passionate about their mission and aim to find like-minded people to support their nonprofit.

“Between adoption fees, food, veterinary bills, transport, harnesses, crates, toys, supplies, training and more, it takes over $8,500 to train one service dog. Anything truly makes a difference for the dogs, trainers and veterans.”
